Because I love you

A teenage son looks down on his mother with anger in his eyes.
"I want to do what I want to do!" he shouts over her cries.
"Why can't you ever let me have fun? Let me hang out with the guys?"
"Why do you insist you know where I am and everything I do.
Mother whispers quietly, "Because I love you."

The teenage son does not hear his mother's quiet words.
He shouts and rages on and on he wants to make sure he is heard.
"Why can't I have an I-pod, or a cell phone? A laptop is not absurd!"
Why don't you let me have the things that I want?" his angry message flew!
Mother whispers quietly, "Because I love you."

The teenage son sees mothers lip moving quietly.
But he pays no attention to his mother's silent pleas.
He cannot see beyond his desires, to his mothers bended knees.
With fists raised up and anger flashing, he shouts "I hate you!"
Mother whispers quietly, "I love you."

The teenage son looks down on the woman's pure love.
"How can you put up with me when I push and I shove?"
"What makes you stay and care for me? What are you made of?"
Why do you let me roar and rage the way I do?
Mother whispers quietly, "Because I love you."
